American comedy-drama TV series “Jane the Virgin” is resuming season 4 this year with new faces. According to reports, the latest addition to the cast as a guest star is Golden Globe nominee actress Brooke Shields. The 52-year old star will be playing the role of Rogelio’s (Jaimie Camil) newest nemesis named River Fields.
Details reveal that Shields’ character in “Jane the Virgin” is going to be a famous actress and supermodel. However, she isn’t going to be a darling in the show as it is said that she will be starting a feud with Rogelio.
The dispute will go viral and the two will be at each other’s throats. Not a lot of details have been revealed yet, but fans can catch more of Shields’ character beginning the 10th episode of season 4 titled “Chapter Seventy-Four.” It is set to air on Feb. 9.
Shields already has a long list of TV credits but her last project was a five-episode arc on NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU.” Her landing a role in “Jane the Virgin” confirmed that her part in the police procedural crime-drama series is done for the meantime. And just like in “Law & Order: SVU,” Shields will be appearing in the CW satirical telenovela for multiple episodes.
Aside from Shields, the second half of “Jane the Virgin” season 4 will also be welcoming Rosario Dawson as a new cast member. After speculations about her involvement in the show surfaced, it has finally been confirmed that she will be appearing in a multi-episode story arc.
However, details regarding her character have not been made known yet. Fans will have to stay tuned in the later part of the season to find out who Dawson will be playing in the show.
“Jane the Virgin” isn’t new to casting big names as guest stars. Other celebrities who have appeared in recurring roles include Britney Spears, Kesha, Bruno Mars, Denise Richards, Paulina Rubio, Jane Seymour, and Tyler Posey.
Season 4 of “Jane the Virgin”will resume on the small screen with a new episode on January 19 on The CW.
