Netflix Confirms That 13 Reasons Why Author is Absent for Season 2

NEW YORK – Netflix made it clear that Jay Asher, author of the hit novel that turned TV series ‘13 Reasons Why,’ is not involved in the series’ season 2. The confirmation happened after the said author was accused of sexual harassment very recently.

The on-demand video streaming company confirms that the Netflix original TV series will not be, in any way, affected by the issue over Jay Asher. This is because the author was not involved in making of the series’ second season.

Moreover, Jay Asher was reportedly barred from the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018. This is due to the sexual harassment allegations thrown at him.

The SCBWI, through its executive director Lin Oliver, said in an official statement that they have zero tolerance over violations of the sexual harassment policy and allegations, hence the decision to expel Jay Asher from the organization. They also expressed that they are reviewing their guidelines in line with the current issue to revert and to revise if there is a need for it.

Jay Asher, on the other hand, defended himself against the allegations and the disbarment from the organization. He then said that it was his choice to leave SCBWI, so there is no direct involvement of the group in the issue he is currently facing.

This might be a huge dilemma faced by the author as his career seems to get more affected day by day.

Netflix just recently wrapped the shooting of the TV series’ season 2. The on-demand streaming company made it clear that Jay Asher is not tangled in creating the second season, so they do not think that the TV series will be affected.

The second season is set to deal deeper with the main character, Hannah Baker, who decided to take away her own life. There would be more twists and turns for the sophomore season, and it is predicted to be another hit after the great take-off of its first season.

Netflix is doing everything they can to clear the show’s second season from any sexual harassment involvement of the novel’s author. The company is distancing itself from any participation in the allegations thrown to Jay Asher.

Though there is no exact premiere date yet of the second season of 13 Reasons Why, everyone can still stream and catch up with their missed episodes of its debut season on Netflix.
